Let’s talk about Cason Refenning, a Martin County High School senior from Palm City who is not just cruising through senior year, he’s flying past the finish line at full speed! šŸ I had an absolute blast capturing his senior photos, and when I met up with him and his race car (his dad’s 1970 Porsche 914), I knew we were about to make some serious magic. ✨ This car isn’t just a showpiece; it’s a family legacy raced by Cason, his dad Brady, and his brother Brennan. And just last week, Cason tore up the track at the ChampCar Race at Daytona… until the car threw in the towel. Racing isn’t just about speed; it’s about the ups, the downs, and the stories that come with it!

Oh, and did I mention? Cason showed up in his dad’s vintage racing suit. Talk about next-level cool.

Born to Race šŸŽļøšŸ”„ Cason’s story is all about passion, family, and a need for speed that runs through his veins. šŸŽļø I took a little peek at his mom, Jennifer’s, Facebook for inspiration (big love to proud moms for the best scoops šŸ™Œ), and wow, it turns out Cason was born with a passion for fast cars. Picture toddler Cason, barely old enough to name colors, already pointing out Porsches, Corvettes, and BMWs like a seasoned pro. His mom’s old post had me cracking up. ā€œHe can spot them from a mile away!ā€ Some kids love dinosaurs, Cason? He was hooked on horsepower.

Fast forward, and he’s not just eyeing cars, he’s racing them. šŸŽļøšŸ’Ø

Last year, he locked in third in his class at his go-kart banquet, proof that hard work pays off. Then he leveled up, hitting Sebring for his first race car drive in a VW Golf, with his grandpa, Papa Jack, riding shotgun as his coach. Come April, he turned 17 and celebrated at Daytona with his first official race.

Three Generations, One Track šŸāœØ

Summer brought the ultimate vibe:: a 12-hour ChampCar Race at Sebring where Cason, Brennan (his brother), Brady (his dad), and Papa Jack tore up the track together. šŸš—šŸ’Ø Three generations of racers in one family? If that’s not the ultimate family bonding experience, I don’t know what is! That’s the kind of story that belongs in a movie. šŸŽ¬ I wish I’d been there with my camera snapping every second. šŸ“· because Cason’s second race, Brennan’s first, and the whole crew making memories from dusk till dawn. That’s pure legend status. But here’s the real kicker: this isn’t just a passion for Cason, it’s his future. ✨ Next fall, he’s heading to Universal/NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC, to study automotive mechanics and turn that passion into a career. This guy is going places, and fast. šŸ”„

Photographing Cason with that Porsche 914? Pure magic. ✨ It’s not just a car, it’s his story, his family’s heart, his drive, and a symbol of everything he’s worked for and everything ahead. We played with angles, captured every sleek line, and let Cason’s confident, unstoppable energy shine through. These photos? They’re not just senior portraits, they’re a celebration of a young man already chasing his future at full throttle. šŸš€

So, who’s Cason off the track? He’s chill, keeps it real, but lights up with his crew. They’re all about races, random Walmart runs (because where else do the best adventures start?), and grabbing food. His style? Sweatpants and racing tees, laid-back and totally him. Ask what he’s proudest of, and he’ll hit you with ā€œmy drivingā€ without a second thought. šŸ† With those go-kart wins in his rearview, he’s got every reason to flex.

After high school, he’s hyped to move to North Carolina, working in automotive mechanics and carving out a spot in the NASCAR world. šŸ Five years down the road? He’s picturing himself on a NASCAR team, living the dream he’s been working toward since he was a kid. Best advice he’s snagged? ā€œSpend more to make more.ā€ Sounds like a winning strategy to me. šŸ†
