I had the privilege of photographing a group of Martin County High School seniors as they celebrated pre-prom night at The Patio at Palm City Place, a charming, open-air spot that felt tailor-made for this milestone photo session. The energy was electric—laughter, excitement, and the rustle of elegant dresses and sharp suits filled the air as these teens marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of something new.

The overcast sky softened the light, dodging rain entirely and giving us a perfect canvas. The girls dazzled, the guys strutted, and the group shots buzzed with that senior-year spark.

Relive the magic of Prom Night at The Patio at Palm City Place! 🎉✨

The shoot came together thanks to the mother of twins Jake Jocks and Julia Jocks, a brother-sister duo who radiated a warm, familial vibe. Jake, bound for St. Thomas University on a football scholarship this fall, and Julia, headed to Florida State University, were the heart of the group. I don’t know the full story of their crew—whether it’s years of friendship, shared classes, football, cheer, or just the magic of prom night—but their bond was undeniable. As a photographer, my job is to freeze these fleeting moments, and this group gave me a goldmine to work with.

Twin siblings Jake and Julia Jocks pose in formal attire. Julia in a red dress and the Jake in a black suit with a yellow tie, pose by a pond with trees and a fountain.

One story stole my heart: Julia and her date, Austin, have been friends since they were about four years old. Seeing them together, Julia glowing in her dress, Austin beaming beside her, you could feel the weight of nearly 14 years of friendship. Stepping into prom night side by side, they turned a lifelong bond into a full-circle moment that made my camera feel like a time machine.

The Girls...

The Guys...

The Figaro Then came the real star: my Classic Nissan Figaro. I brought “Figgy” along—a quirky, vintage ride I offer for senior sessions—and the girls couldn’t resist. Picture this: prom dresses spilling out of its pastel frame, their laughter bouncing off the patio. It added a playful, retro twist to the night. Jake and the guys struck classic poses nearby, but let’s be real—Figgy stole the show. They may have rolled up in a party bus, but who needs that when you’ve got the cutest party car around?

For me, this wasn’t just about snapping photos—it was about bottling the essence of a night these seniors will carry forever. The Patio at Palm City Place wasn’t just a backdrop; it was a stage for their memories. As Jake and Julia’s mom watched her twins shine, her pride was palpable—she’d given them a moment to treasure.

Prom 2025 at Martin County High School was one night, but through my lens, it’s a story for a lifetime. Here’s to Jake, Julia, Austin, and their crew—may your futures be as bright as the flashes of my camera!
